MKU hosts Prof. Grace W. Ngare to a public lecture
A renowned educator and gender specialist has challenged Men and women on the importance of focusing on gender equality including economic participation and decision-making.
Prof. Grace W. Ngare, Director Center for Gender Equity and Empowerment Kenyatta university, emphasized on the support of the gender bill which will enhance gender inclusivity in leadership and education.
She was speaking during a public lecture held at Mount Kenya University Nairobi campus on Wednesday, whose theme was ‘Gender in the 21st century’ Gender Perspective in Leadership and Education.
She brought out the historical perspective of gender revolution from pre-colonial colonial, to post-colonial leadership.
Prof. Ngare strongly emphasized on MDG 3: Promote gender equality and empower women and SDG 5: Gender equality. She addressed gender barriers towards achieving the goal which include structural, social, cultural, contextual and political barriers.
She challenged the staff, students, members of parliament and the public at large we need gender paradigm shift, new models of leadership, new strategy gender advocacy, political transparency, and removal of formal & informal barriers and invited all to join integrity-being a leader (BAL) program.
