MKU hosts African Sport Management Association’s 4th International Conference
The Africa Sport Management Association (ASMA) which is a corporate body registered in Kenya has partnered with MKU to host the 4th international conference. The Kenya Academy of sports is also a partner in this 3 day long event.
The ASMA’s 1st conference was held in Uganda in 2011,Th 2nd one in Dar es Salaam in 2013 and the 3rd on in Abuja, Nigeria in 2016.
During the 4th conference at Mount Kenya University, the ASMA President presented the distinguished service award to Mr. J.J. Nyaga, the founding father of Physical Education as an academic discipline in East Africa.
The 3rd day of the conference (6th April 2019) coincides with the international day for physical activity. All delegates will move to the field and participate in physical activities
The Kenyan sports Cabinet Secretary was represented in the opening ceremony by the acting commissioner for sports Mr. Japson Gitonga. Other delegates includes Kenya Academy of Sports CEO, Mr. Gordon Oluoch , MKU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stanley Waudo , the chairman of Kenya National Sports Council, Mr. Ndiritu Gikaria and many others.
The conference attracted delegates from Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Gambia, Germany, Zimbabwe and Burundi
