MKU Nakuru campus bags trophy in national music festivals
Mount Kenya University Nakuru campus has won a trophy in this year’s National Music Festivals held in Kisumu County. The Campus music club participated in the festivals held in Kisumu Boys and Girls High schools from 19th– 22nd September 2022 under the theme ‘Kenya My Pride, My Future’. MKU Nakuru campus won for the university the winning trophy for a Swahili solo verse titled Tamaa; presented by Abubakar Abedi, a student from the School of Computing and Informatics. Tamaa, which loosely translates to greed, is a piece of art that addresses the greed for quick money especially by young people which has led them into sports betting to earn easy money.
The win in this year’s music festival comes after another similar success in the previous music festivals held in Kabarak University in the year 2019; where MKU Nakuru campus scooped two trophies. The music festivals resumed this year after a two year break from 2019 that was occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.
