MKU hosted 4th summer school 2023
Mount Kenya University hosted ACCESS Summer School 2023 where delegates from Germany, Tunisia, Ghana, Nigeria, Benin, Rwanda and Kenya joined together for the 4th summer school under the theme “Beyond Classroom Experience in the Lenses of University–Industry Interaction”. The program which has started on 22nd May 2023 and end on 26th May 2023. Previous Summer Schools were held in Ghana, Tunisia and Benin.

ACCESS is a strong network initiated by the University of Leipzig and the six African partner universities in 2020 to identify and develop new approaches to the labor market needs in Africa a move that we all need to embrace to enhance graduates employability” Prof. JAGANYI Mount Kenya University Vice-Chancellor.
ACCESS is therefore an initiative to empower African graduates, connects Africa’s students, universities and businesses to create new opportunities in the labour market.

The ACCESS summer school is part of the ACCESS programs which are funded by Germany based institutions that is DAAD, EXCEED (Excellence Centres for Exchange and Development) and Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. Other programs include Idea Business Competition.
Graduate Centre for Career Enhancement and Skill Support
Mount Kenya University has approved through the University Council the establishment of Graduate Centre for Career Enhancement and Skill Support to foster the Service-Learning strategy with the industries. This is an offshoot unit of the Kenya ACCESS Team, led by the ACCESS Coordinator, Dr. Yatich. We are hopeful that by leveraging the problems faced by industry, our postgraduate students will provide “service” to the industry by solving their challenges as part of their research projects, while utilizing the same study to fulfil their “research” academic requirement.
