Varsity signs MoU with Wadhwani Foundation to accelerate job creation and training
MKU has signed an MOU with Wadhwani Foundation which is an international venture that was founded at Silicon Valley (USA) in 2000 by Dr. Romesh Wadhwani with the primary mission of accelerating economic development in emerging economies through large-scale job creation.
The Foundation’s presence is in a number of countries including India, Indonesia, Malaysia, East Africa and Latin America. Wadhwani Foundation (WF) supports free entrepreneurial promotion at Universities for job creation. This includes free training and provision with free training software and a huge global network offered to Universities valued at 300 millions of USD.
Participating universities however have to provide personnel to be trained (Trainers) who in turn train their students at the recipient universities cost. Participating Universities also provide space and logistics for students training e.g. timetabling, internet connectivity, staff facilitation and follow-up by the University’s Management.
A team of 15 MKU members of staff were trained between 13th and 18th December, 2016. 8 of them were trained as Master Trainers. A total of 70 students from Thika Campus and 40 from Nairobi Campus have been recruited for training with effect from February, 2017.
