MKU donates metal boxes to General Kago primary school
Mount Kenya University has donated metallic boxes to Students from General Kago Primary school who scored 300 marks and above as they plan to join form one in different schools. This initiative is targeted towards helping the parents from Kiandutu slum to enroll their children to secondary schools.
Prof. Peter Wanderi presented the metallic boxes to the pupils in an event attended by their parents, teachers and Christian Union students from Mount Kenya University. The CU students have an established mentorship and guidance forum where they interact and guide the pupils from General Kago Primary school.
Madam Jane, headteacher General Kago Primary school thanked the university while appreciating the impact of the donation towards reducing the financial burden of the parents who come from Kiandutu slum and barely afford food for their families.
Most students from General Kago, which neighbours MKU, come from Kiandutu Slum and have to trek a long distance to get to school. Education is their only hope to positively transform their lives and that of their families.
Last year in a similar event, MKU donated metallic boxes to pupils from Kamenu Primary School which is located at Makongeni, Thika.
MKU continues to impact the community through education, community outreach projects and CSR activities.
