MKU reap big in Erasmus+ mobility cooperation 2025
Fifteen participants (8 faculty members and 7 postgraduate students) participated in the Erasmus+ exchange programme (Reference No. KA171) at University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (UCM) from 14th to 29th May 2025. The team was led by Dr Mercyline Kamande (Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Academic and Research Affairs), Prof. Kennedy Mutundu (Dean, School of Social Sciences) and Mr Bonface Joel Malala (Head, Grants Office). In the team were representation from Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret and Meru campuses.

During the Erasmus+ stay in Slovakia, the team participated in various activities including summer school where four MKU faculty members got the opportunity to disseminate research findings; carried out job shadowing with respective counterpart departments/faculty members at UCM adSlovak cultural exchange experiences. The MKU team used the opportunity to interact with faculty members and postgraduate students from Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) led by Prof. Aman Lusekelo (Deputy Principal – Academic, Research and Consultancy).
Some of the benefits from the Erasmus+ exchange include; potential establishment of collaboration between MKU and DUCE, expansion of existing cooperation between MKU and UCM, joint research activities (proposal development, conference/workshops/seminars, publications in UCM Scopus indexed journals etc), joint postgraduate supervision, and exchange of best learning practices among others.
