Varsity holds an academic writing and publication workshop
Mount Kenya University faculty staff and postgraduate staff from Main Campus, Thika have today (Friday, 12th April, 2019 ) participated in a research and publication workshop which was organized by Dr. Bibianne Waiganjo-Aidi, Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Research and Academic Affairs, The workshop was held at Indoor Games arena. The keynote speaker was Prof. Fiona Mbai, Director, Research and Knowledge Exchange, Technical University of Kenya.
Major topics which were deliberated on included:
- How to create a digital presence
- Who is this writing intended for?
- What is the intent of the document?
- How soon does it need to be submitted?
- For what reason is it being written?
- Where is the document going?
- How will the document be distributed?
- University Rankings
Dr. Ken Ramani, Council member ,attended the workshop and reiterated on the University commitment to teaching and research activities, he urged the postgraduate students to tap on the University infrastructure to conduct their research within the stipulated time.
The researchers were taken through the advantages of collaborations and citations in research so that they can achieve alot, “Researchers do not outdo each other, they complement one another” said Dr. Bibianne
The workshop came at a time when the University has received instrumental grant from seedling lab to aid in research and teaching and has embarked to have communities reap from the output of research conducted by the University.
