Mount Kenya University’s (MKU’s) E-repository has leapt to the top, emerging third among ranked libraries of all universities in Kenya. This is according to the latest ranking of web repositories that surveys the visibility of university libraries.
This placed MKU above all private universities in Kenya.
In Africa, MKU’s E-repository was rated Number 34 out of the 74 universities ranked this January, making it one of the leading higher education institutions tapping digital resources for the benefit of its students and faculty.
The aim of the ranking is to support Open Access initiatives and therefore the free access to scientific publications in an electronic form and to other academic material.
This ranking is a true reflection of the Universities tremendous contributions to academics and research. The e-repository has the University’s faculty and student publications which can be accessed globally.
The University has invested heavily in research, academic conferences and funding faculty publications. This year the University is organizing an international conference in Nairobi on peace, security and social enterprise and a conference in Rwanda on the English language.
