MKU and Mully Children’s Family sign an MoU
Mount Kenya University (MKU), the Chair holder of UNESCO/UNITWIN Chair on Digital Education, Interdisciplinary Teaching and Sustainable Development and Mully Childrens’ Family (MCF) on Monday16th December, 2019 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

The MOU Spells out the terms of engagement in research and community outreach activities between the two partners. Other partners present to witness the occasion were the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO (KNATCOM-UNESCO) and representatives from the Kenya Network of UNESCO Chairs from Rongo University and Kenyatta University. The Kenya Network of UNESCO Chairs is currently working under the umbrella of KNATCOM-UNESCO to develop a proposal on Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE). MKU in collaboration with Mully Children’s Family (MCF) will implement the ACE activities by engaging in collection of seeds of identified trees, propagation and production of drought resistant tree seedlings from collected seeds, distribution of drought resistant trees seedlings to the community, tree planting and nurturing, sustainable harvesting of trees, integration of forestry with food production (Agroforestry), sustainable water harvesting and usage initiatives among other community development initiatives. The collaboration also purposes to create a public sustained awareness on Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation (CCMA) initiatives as adopted by MCF.
About Mully Children’s Family
Mully Children’s Family is a non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates and re-integrates street children and dejected teenage mothers. MCF is considered the largest family in the world with over 3,500 children to feed on daily basis, courtesy of its Founder/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Charles Mulli (Daddy Mulli) and his wife Mama Esther. Since 1989 when MCF was started, about 20,000 beneficiaries have been nurtured. MCF also carries out the MCF Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation which is the main focus of the MKU-MCF partnership. They also have MCF Safaris, MCF horticulture, MCF College, MCF Secondary Schools and MCF Primary Schools.
