MKU Business School Holds Exit Training to Launch Career Readiness
Mount Kenya University’s School of Business and Economics successfully held a powerful Exit Training session on Thursday, 24th July 2025, offering a transformative experience for its final-year students, graduands, and those proceeding for attachment. The event, held at the Mwai Kibaki Convention Centre from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, marked a significant milestone in the students’ transition from academic life to the professional world.
Under the theme “Beyond the Lecture Hall: Building Your Professional Foundation”, the training brought together distinguished industry leaders who shared practical insights, career tips, and motivational guidance to prepare students for the challenges and opportunities in the job market and entrepreneurship.
Guest speakers included:
- Mr. Stephen Musyoka – Human Resource Manager, Devki Group
- Dr. Fred Ongisa – CEO, Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM)
- Ms. Jemima Wanjiku – HR Expert & Founder/CEO, Rence Recruiters
- Ms. Deborah Ramos – Strategic Partnership Lead & Executive Support to CEO, Empowering Young Women
The speakers addressed key topics such as:
- Building a personal brand
- Professional etiquette and workplace expectations
- Navigating interviews and job applications
- Entrepreneurial thinking and resilience
- Strategic networking and personal growth
Students had the opportunity to ask questions, network with professionals, and receive practical guidance that complements their academic training.

The event was well attended, with hundreds of students from certificate, diploma, and degree programmes expressing appreciation for the timely knowledge and inspiration shared.
“It was eye-opening. I feel more confident about entering the job market,” said one of the participants.
As the students prepare to embark on their careers and entrepreneurial journeys, the School has once again demonstrated its dedication to holistic education, equipping learners not only with academic knowledge but also the life skills needed to thrive.
