Mount Kenya University through the Centre for Professional Development, Maritime Academy, and the School of Hospitality, successfully hosted a high-profile pre-screening and recruitment event for Royal Caribbean Cruise Line from April 14th to 18th, 2025. The five-day event was held at the Mwai Kibaki Convention Centre, MKU Thika Main Campus.

The recruitment drive, organized in partnership with CSCS International Manning Agency—the official recruitment partner for Royal Caribbean in Kenya—offered hundreds of Kenyan youth, especially hospitality graduates and alumni, the chance to secure life-changing employment opportunities in the global cruise industry.
Speaking during the event, Dr. Christopher Mutembei, Director of the Centre for Professional Development, noted:
“This event marks a significant milestone in our efforts to connect Kenyan talent with global opportunities. We are proud to be part of shaping the future of our youth through such partnerships.”

The event was graced by distinguished guests, including:

- Mr. James Karigithu, Country Director, CSCS Kenya
- Dr. Mercyline Kamande, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Research Affairs
- Prof. Evans Kerosi, Executive Director, Equip Africa

The recruitment process involved intensive candidate screening, orientation sessions, and interviews, all in line with Royal Caribbean’s international standards. MKU ensured the provision of secure, professional, and welcoming facilities for all stakeholders.
