MKU Nairobi Campus Spreads Hope and Kindness in Heartfelt CSR Visit to Mji wa Huruma
Mount Kenya University (MKU), Nairobi Campus, reaffirmed its commitment to community service through a heartfelt Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity held at Mji wa Huruma, an elderly care facility located along Kiambu Road in Runda.
The activity, held on Monday, 28th April 2025, brought together students, faculty, and staff in a unified gesture of love, empathy, and support for the aged. The visit featured a warm welcome, interactions with the elderly, and a sermonette that offered spiritual nourishment and a word of encouragement to both residents and visitors alike. The atmosphere was filled with compassion, connection, and joy.
The team also delivered essential donations, including foodstuff, clothing, hygiene items, and other necessities, which were warmly received by the home’s management.

The Value of CSR and Caring for the Elderly
This CSR initiative highlighted the importance of compassion, community, and active social engagement. For the elderly at Mji wa Huruma, it was a moment of joy and reassurance that they are valued and remembered. For MKU students, it was a powerful reminder that learning extends beyond textbooks and classrooms—it includes developing empathy, leadership, and civic responsibility.
The presence of spiritual guidance and messages of hope underscored MKU’s holistic approach to community outreach—catering not only to physical needs but also to emotional and spiritual well-being.
Sustaining Partnerships with Purpose
This visit marks another step in MKU’s long-term commitment to community partnerships. The Campus Management Representative Mr. Muiruri emphasized the university’s role in fostering sustainable relationships that create meaningful impact, while nurturing socially conscious graduates.
As the event concluded with smiles and shared refreshments, one thing was certain—small acts of kindness can create lasting memories and ripple effects in the lives of others.
