MKU Releases a New Crop of Oracle Database Administrators
On 4 March 2017, Mount Kenya University (MKU) registered another first. The University completed the training of Oracle Database Administrators (OCA& OCE) through a unique partnership with Oracle University.

Oracle Corporation initiated a Workforce Development Programme (WDP) to address the continued global IT worker shortage and the need for accessible and low-cost IT skills training.
Oracle University and MKU provide education and certification programmes that give individuals relevant job skills in an increasingly competitive work environment. These programmes address the growing shortage of skilled employees in the global technology industry.
The new crop of MKU-trained Oracle Database Administrators drawn from various academic backgrounds have undergone tremendous transformation over a six-month period. The participants were excited by the amazing approach to learning, which combined practical real-world manoeuvres with problem-based learning.
Undergoing the curricula developed exclusively by Oracle University – Oracle’s corporate training division – the students covered a total of six database administration modules under the Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) level and Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) level. The class was facilitated by Eric Muthama(OCP & OCE), an expert in Oracle technologies.
Oracle certifications are the fastest growing and well-paying certifications in the IT marketplace. Government bodies and major public and private corporations have adopted Oracle technologies in their operations, raising the demand for Oracle experts.
Intake for the next class is on-going for classes slated to start in May 2017.
