MKU Unleashing potential in campuses and ODeL centres for optimal performance
Mount Kenya university (MKU) held its annual strategic directors’ workshop last week.
The 3-day workshop in Nakuru city was held under the theme “unleashing campuses and ODeL centres’ full potential for optimal performance”.
It was graced by founder and chairman Prof. Simon Gicharu, university council Prof. David Serem and the vice-chancellor Prof. Deogratius Jaganyi.
The participants drawn from MKU’s local and regional campuses reflected on the university’s strategic direction as it continues to offer high quality university education.
The workshop was timely in that it coincided with the week that Education Ministry released the results of the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Education examinations.
The KCSE graduates are hunting for higher education institutions that’ll serve as a launchpad to their dream careers.
Higher education sector is set for a paradigm shift in operational matters so as to remain relevant and sustainable in the competitive and highly globalised environment.
Prof. Gicharu commended the University Council and Management for the collective efforts that have made it possible to realise the university vision and mission.
MKU has remained resilient post-Covid and has set up strategies to align her academic curricula with the CBC requirements in preparation of receiving CBC students in the near future.
The Board of Directors said it is committed to ensure that the University has appropriate infrastructure to facilitate access to tertiary education.
Besides the degree-offering arm, MKU has also established Equip Africa Institute and Equip Africa College of Medical and Health Sciences. The Technical and Vocational Education and Training equip youth with the much-in-demand manpower.
On his part, Prof. Jaganyi said: “Institutions of higher learning will be the driver of the transformation of national and regional economies through provision of teaching, research and community outreach services.”
MKU has a robust network of campuses and an online learning platform supported by modern ICT technologies.
