School of pure and applied sciences receives donations from seedling labs,USA
Mount Kenya University is one of 16 awardees to receive equipment that will advance scientific research and teaching from Seeding Labs’ 2018 Instrumental Access program.
Instrumental Access Program makes high-quality laboratory equipment and supplies available to university departments and research institutes in developing countries. It is the flagship program of Seeding Labs, a US-based nonprofit working to help scientists make discoveries that improve life and the planet.

MKU outlined the ways that an infusion of scientific equipment would remove barriers to STEM education and research at their institution—paving the way for new avenues of scientific inquiry and expanding hands-on opportunities for students.
The award was received by Dr. Mary Muriuki, Dean school of pure and applied sciences on behalf of the University , she expressed gratitude to Dr. Nina Dunkin , CEO of Seedling Labs for the noble cause whose impact shall benefit many students
“The School of Pure and Applied Sciences is focused on providing world-class scientific skills to our students as well as carrying out life changing research. Our main challenge is that the School lacks adequately equipped laboratories for teaching and research based on chromatography and spectroscopic analysis.”
Receiving these equipment from Seeding Labs will not only improve our student output but also will boost research in the School and at the university at large.”
